The Secret Russian KGB Book of Alien Races

Adapted from a Soviet Space Age propaganda poster.

The “Secret Russian KGB Book of Alien Races,” formally titled Introduction to the Alien Races Book, is an intriguing document that alleges to have emerged from the late Soviet Union. The book is said to have been first created around 1946-1947, with continuous updates over the years.

Cover of the book.

The book’s primary purpose—allegedly—was to inform KGB agents about various extraterrestrial races that had visited Earth. Part alien bestiary, part instruction manual on dealing with aliens (“engage with them, follow them, learn from them), and part UFO gallery, the book is an exhaustive but easy-to-read encyclopedia on extraterrestrial matters. It is magisterial in tone, with oddly specific claims about alien heights, ship descriptions, and intergalactic politics, such as the “Council of 5” alien races that purportedly protect Earth. Seasoned UFOlogists will recognize familiar alien races, such as Grays and Tall Whites, and find some new faces, such as Slavic-speaking, wormhole-traveling aliens which visited the USSR in 1935, the book claims.

The book concludes by saying that aliens are all around us, and “the future of the human race is NOT in our hands at this point int time…” but encourages other alien-watchers to learn, take notes, and study the skies (as well as possible reptilians walking among us).

The Russian KGB Secret Book of Alien Races is rife with misspellings and crusty JPEGs; we advise reading it with both a skeptical and an open mind. Whether it’s truly a leaked document, intelligence artifact, naked hoax, or schizo compendium, it’s an entertaining read, with possibly some flashes of real insight, just like all the other good yet utterly schizophrenic documents floating around the internet.

In the interest of public knowledge, we’ve made the book available for all. This version is credited to Dante Santori.
